Paula completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in the Philippines in 2008 and began her career as an ICU/CCU nurse, working in the Philippines and Saudi Arabia for six years.
In 2018, she moved to New Zealand and became a New Zealand-registered nurse in 2020. She initially worked in hospital settings before developing a strong interest in skin cancer detection and prevention during her time at MoleMap, where she served as a Melanographer for over four years.
Paula has completed both the Professional Certificate of Dermoscopy and the Advanced Certificate of Dermoscopy through HealthCert Education.
In 2025, she joined Skin Institute as a Nurse Dermoscopist, bringing her extensive clinical background and specialist dermoscopy skills to support early detection and management of skin cancers.
