How to Perform a Simple At-Home Skin Check
Regular self-checks help you identify changes early and they take only a few minutes.
How to Do It
- Stand in good light with a full-length and hand mirror
- Check your face, scalp, trunk, arms, legs, palms, soles, and between fingers and toes
- Look for changes in size, shape, colour, borders, and behaviour (bleeding, itching, crusting)
- Note new spots or anything that looks “different” from the rest
It’s great to do simple at home skin checks but regular professional skin checks and skin cancer consultations are highly recommended as clinicians have the tools and training to spot lesions of concern.
